  35. What is the difference between buttercream frosting and whipped cream frosting?
    • While both frostings are delicious, there is a difference. Butter cream is a much heavier, sweeter frosting because it primarily consists of butter and powdered sugar. Delicious!
    • The whipped cream has a much lighter, airy texture. Delicious!

    <Back to Top>

  36. Why can’t I have whipped cream filling in a butter cream frosting cake?
    • Our buttercream frosting is a bit too heavy for a whipped cream filling. Your cake may collapse!

    <Back to Top>

  37. Why does the cake have a filling?
    • You don't have to have a filling, however most people prefer introducing an additional complementary taste such as fresh strawberries or custard in their cake.
    • If you need to serve more guests, then stacking a cake higher with fillings and more cake is good way to increase the serving amount.
    • Some cake styles have restrictions on fillings, for example, cut-out cakes can not have fillings because they aren't stable.
    • Review the other FAQs regarding cake flavors and fillings above or give us a call for more details.

    <Back to Top>

    • Other restrictions may apply, call for details.

    <Back to Top>

  39. Why can’t I have a drawing on my whipped cream frosted cake?
    • Drawings are done in buttercream frosting and are spread with a pallet knife and other decorating tools. The buttercream frosting will slide on whipped cream frosted cakes and the drawing is not able to be done properly.

    <Back to Top>

  40. Why can’t I have fresh banana filling in my cake with a drawing?
    • We do not do drawings on cakes with fresh banana filling because drawing cakes are more time consuming and the banana filling may turn brown.
    • Fresh strawberries can be done with the drawings.

    <Back to Top>

  41. Why can’t I have 2 fresh fruit fillings in a cake frosted with butter cream?
    • Buttercream frosting is put on cakes with a pallet knife and other decorating tools. The frosting is thick and the weight pulls against the cake layers. When there are 2 fresh fruit fillings the cake is taller than usual and the layers begin to crumble as the cake is being iced. Whipped cream is put on the cake with a decorators bag and is therefore does not damage the cake layers.

    <Back to Top>

  42. Can I have Fresh Strawberries in my wedding cake?
    • With the exception of our signature cake, The Queen Elizabeth , we do not offer fresh strawberries as a filling option. Since the wedding cake is on display during the reception, the fruit has a tendency to break down and deteriorate. This is often compounded by the fact that many reception facilities just do not have the extra refrigeration space to spare, so the cake could possibly be without benefit of refrigeration all day.

    <Back to Top>

  43. Do you have wedding cake toppers?
    • We do not offer cake toppers. Since our cakes are customized to the bride s personal taste, it is nearly impossible to stock such an item. We have found that most of our brides choose flowers, either fresh or butter cream to top their cake.

    <Back to Top>

  44. Why does my wedding cake need pillars?
    • Pillars are more than just a decorative feature of a wedding cake. Pillars actually serve the purpose of providing the cake its structure by evenly distributing the weight load. A cake that is very heavy without adequate support will most definitely crack.

    <Back to Top>

  45. Do you put fresh flowers on the wedding cake?
    • Coordinate with your florist to provide fresh flowers for your wedding cake. Please verify with your florist that the flowers have not been sprayed with any chemicals. Also, unless your flowers were specifically grown to be eaten, please remove them before serving.

    <Back to Top>

  46. Do you do drawings on fudge frosting?
    • We don't recommend drawing on fudge because the image does not show up very well and some images may be difficult for the decorator however we will try to accommodate your needs.

    <Back to Top>

  47. Do you sell cake knives?
    • As a retail bakery, we are primarily concentrating on the creation and sale of our own products. As with the cake toppers, this item is currently not available in our stores.
